Duck Tank's Bad Beak Day
CONTROLS: Left and Right arrow keys to move, up arrow key to jump.
Oh no, poor duck tank has had their webbed tracks busted up and their laser beak is on the fritz. Help them try to get home in this sorta uncomfortable platformer.
The theme for this game jam is "Out of control". So I took control out of the player by removing the smooth movement that one would normally expect in a platformer. I also took out the direct control the player has over the laser by tying it with the movement.
Note: This is my first game jam, so I mostly value feedback and would greatly appreciate it if you were to send it my way.

I really like this concept. the level where you have to jump amd move forward without destroying the platforms was fun and clever. Fun game.
This would be great as a turn based puzzle game but as a platformer it just ended up hurting my fingers. It was a good concept but placed in the wrong genre. Not having checkpoints annoyed me too. It was still a fun game and a great concept but work on adding checkpoints and definitely try switching it to a puzzle game.
I understand that you tried to meet the "out of control" theme by taking away the smooth movement, but this feels like more like a needless penalty that the play has to play around. I think the laser beam was enough to fit the theme. I ended up spending most of the game jumping once then just mashing the right key as hard as I possibly could to get the most movement. I never found out what the little red guys did but the green guys definitely were annoying. Why do they send you back to the first level? I played through the first 3 levels around 7 times just trying to finish the game. They should only reset the stage, it's too harsh of a penalty. I think the concept is pretty neat that you have to shoot as a byproduct of moving, but I think that it would be a lot cooler in a puzzle game rather than a platformer.
